Mixed Media Fiber Collage

Me and the hubby were off to a married couples retreat this past weekend and I had packed a bag of art stuff to work on during the weekend for whenever we had downtime and came to find out that we had zero downtime! It was a fabulous weekend reconnecting, but no art was created then. The piece pictured above was put together on the drive up to the retreat and was hand sewn on the way home from the retreat.

Maya

Maya's arms were on loan to Spare Parts Monday creation and are now returned and permanently attached. The main body is some type of facet piece and the wire skirt is hand made by me.

Spare Parts Monday

I put this together this morning! The lower half looks like a broom my grandmother use to make,  but this one was made in China. I Found it at a second hand store.  I made the box sitting on top of it and it's been hanging around the studio for a while. The arms are being borrowed from another doll just for this picture. The other doll is curing, so the arms were availble temporarily. The green bottle inside the box has a bunch of metal springs in it.  The head is of clay which is taped to a wooden block.

Commission Work - Barbie Crucifixion

I'm pretty close to finishing up this commission piece I've been working on for a couple of months. The individual who commissioned me for this work had purchased Resurrection Barbie, and she wanted a another to accompany her on display.

It was agreed upon to stay away from the gory and gruesome, so I touched on the bloody to a very small degree.

Ruth

Fruits of my labor for the week. A bit preoccupied with family issues, so not much time was spent creating. Hopefull next week will be back to a normal routine.
I will be preparing for an art show on Mothers Day, so new stuff to come!! Provided that everyone in the family stays healthy!!

Spare Parts Monday

I came across two of these wooden contraptions and immediately purchased them because they are pretty cool looking. As far as I could figure, they seem to be used for winding up thread. They came with the thread already on them and I like the look, so the thread will stay put.  The hat is a metal funnel and the head is porcelain. The wooden stand are legs that I had cut and shaped a couple years back. As with all my Spare Parts Monday photos, all items are not attached or adhered in any way to one another. However, there is always some potential for a permanent union!

Beautiful UR

I've been buying all this silk ribbon and dying to use it in some work. The tin box is lined with a wine colored pieces of silk, and it's hard to see it in these photos. With all this great weather I should attempt to photograph outside where the lighting is beautiful!
