I was inspired by Dresden Paper Dolls, but wanted to do them in my own style.
I used various fabrics, lace, papers, and a few of my old prints.

Art Dolls Bella and Pita

Took sometime to create some new art dolls. They are machine sewn and poly-fil stuffed.  The red leather skirt is from the covering of an old book. The background mono print is what I have been creating these last few weeks and thought it made a pretty match with the art doll.

The background picture is one of my mono prints have been creating these past few weeks.

"Holy Mother"

Assemblage - Rose

I finished this piece a few months back, however, it has taken me 'til this morning to properly photograph it. It also needed a protective coating over the piece to seal it. The board in the background was an old wooden cutting board that was sanded down and painted. The bottom of the dress is packing craft paper, that has an unusual design to it. The main body is handwoven wire dress that is raised off the backboard to give the 2-D  affect. I think if I had a tighter weave in the skirt, I could have put some type of balls or marbles inside the dress.
I enjoy weaving with the wire and would like to pursue this technique further. Lydia, down below was my first attempt with the 2-D effect with wire and textiles.

June 2015 Photo Competition: Made by Hand

June 2015 Photo Competition: Made byHand
Welcome to our June 2015 Photo Competition!

Georgia O'Keeffe

"Georgia O'Keeffe"

While visiting family in New Mexico last week, we had the chance to visit Ghost Ranch just outside of Abiquiu, New Mexico. It's located about an hours drive from Santa Fe. This place is where Georgia O'Keeffe spent a lot of time painting.

The landscape is breathtaking and the beautiful clouds were very wispy that day.

There are several trails to hike and we hiked Chimney Rock Trail.  Box Canyon and Kitchen Mesa Trails  were either being worked on or there was a movie being filmed, but our only option was spectacular.

There were a few steep areas along the trail.

There have been a few visitors who did not head the warning signs regarding the trail and it cost them their lives.

There are no gates to close the ranch, so people can come in and hike, but not recommended after dark.

You can definitely see why Georgia was drawn to this place.

Our next goal is to come out here and try the other two trails and try to catch a spectacular sunrise and sunset.
